While you’re working with your tractor after a heavy rain, you may find yourself getting bogged down in mud puddles. If the muck ends up being too much for your tractor, then you’ll get stuck, and then what do you do? Try some of these strategies, courtesy of Holder & Sons Equipment, and you’ll be out of the mire and back to work in no time.

Raise Your Implements

Before you do anything else, you should lift up the implement that’s currently on your tractor, to get it out of the way. Make sure you engage the differential lock so that the implement doesn’t fall out of place.

Try to Reverse Out

Sometimes, you might be able to simply reverse out of the muck. Take it slowly, and if you feel your tractor just getting more bogged down, stop what you’re doing and turn it off to try another tactic.

Get Boards & a Shovel

A few planks wedged behind your tractor can help you gain enough purchase to get free. Use a shovel to dig out the mud around the wheels or tracks of your tractor so that you might be able to get out more easily.

Ask For Help

If none of the methods above work, you can always call one of your local friends who owns a tractor that they can bring over to your farm. Hitch up the tractor to yours and let your friend drag your tractor out. Just don’t let them get stuck, too!
